SUMMERHILL PRIMARY SCHOOL
MAGHULL, UNITED KINGDOM

The school is situated in a semi-rural area of Maghull, a small town located north of the city of Liverpool and south of the town of Ormskirk in West Lancashire. It recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary.
It is a one-form entry, mixed ability community school which takes children mostly from the local area. Ages range from 4 – 11. There are currently 195 children on roll, arranged in 7 classes of up to 30 per class. There are 9 teachers and 15 Teaching Assistants as well as a further 15 site, welfare and administrative staff. The number of children with complex SEN (Special Educational Needs) within the school is quite significant and this accounts for the unusual number of teaching assistants in such a small school. The school offers parents guaranteed wrap around care from 8am - 6pm throughout the year as it works in partnership with Maryvale Nurseries Ltd to provide breakfast club, after school, holiday care and a private day nursery on site.
The school works in significant partnership with Maghull And District Community Of Schools (known as MADCOS); 3 High Schools and 15 Primary Schools 'Working Together for a Brighter Future', and is also part of the Holy Rosary Teaching School Alliance. The school achieved a ‘Good’ rating in its most recent Ofsted Inspection in 2014. Since then, standards have continued to rise and many aspects of the school's work are now deemed to be 'Outstanding'.
The school is innovative in its approach to many aspects of education. Currently, for example, there is a job-share situation in the Headship of the school which has resulted in many positive opportunities for middle leaders and more junior staff to take on roles which enhance their professional development. We have achieved many awards recently including Artsmark Silver, Sportsmark, Early Years Quality Mark and Rights Respecting School status. We are particularly proud to be the first school in the North of England to achieve the Workforce Well-Being Charter Mark.
Summerhill Primary School holds pupil well-being at its heart. There is a key focus on Children’s Rights, and pupil responsibilities in regard to these rights. We have achieved Level One of the Rights Respecting Schools charter, and are working towards Level 2, which involves working at an international level. We believe that becoming a Rights Respecting School helps our children become aware of their rights as children, and will help them to grow into confident, caring and responsible young citizens. The children are given a voice through the School Council and have identified Health and Play issues as areas which they would like to focus on.

CEIP CIUTAT DE CREMONA
ALAQUAS, SPAIN

Ciutat de Cremona is a pre-primary and primary public (state) school located in the town of Alaquàs in the province of Valencia, Spain, in the East of Spain, on the Mediterranean coast. This town is an outskirt of the capital city, so it is closed to Valencia. It has around 30.000 inhabitants and the main economical activity is the second and third sector, such as factories, shops, restaurants, etc. The town is also very close to the International Airport of Valencia (9 Km) and it is perfectly well communicated by train and freeway to other important cities like Madrid and Barcelona.
The school is almost 10 years old. It is the result of the student surplus of the school next door. It was born as a provisional school but finally it was established as a new one. So, nowadays the school is built in a provisional place and we are waiting for the new building, which is under construction.
There are around 420 children at the school, from the pre-primary stage, (2 years) till year 6th of primary education (12 years). There is a wide diversity in the nationalities of our students. They come principally from Spanish families but also from other countries like Morocco, Romania, Colombia or China.
As for the staff, there are 35 teachers, including, the headmaster, secretary, headmaster assistant, pre-primary, primary and special educational needs teachers.
The main methodology we practice at school is the one that in Spain is called “Learning Communities”. It is based on the Yale Guide. Basically, consists of inviting volunteers to come to the classroom to help and guide the students in their tasks. Moreover, we offer a service of afternoon library, also guided by volunteers, for those children who have learning difficulties.
1 ST PRIMARY SCHOOL OF PAIANIA
PAIANIA ATTIKI, GREECE

The 1st Primary school of Paiania is located at a suburb of Athens. We have 330 students from 6 to 12 years old and about 30 teachers. There are 25 students with special needs in our school and a large proportion of international students.
All our students will be involved in the activities needed for the realisation of the projects. As we have learned to be engaged and organised towards the final goal we feel that all the staff and students will be divided in smaller groups and will implement the given tasks of the project.
In this particular project, at least 10 teachers will be in charge and responsible for the whole program and the distribution of the tasks and roles within our school.
With the knowledge and experience of having participated in an Erasmus+ project, a Comenius program and two e-twining projects, being in charge of the website for the previous projects and having the support and engagement of the local community and students’ parents, the project will give our school, as well as the community a great chance to variously take advantage of the project, open up in new experiences and be involved in challenging educational endeavours.
It is important to have in mind that Athens, Greece, and areas such as our own (Paiania), has received a great influx of immigrants over the past decades , with families from Albania, Bulgaria, India, Egypt and several other ethnic groups. Consequently, the teaching staff of our school is fully aware of the difficulties, complexities and hardships of assimilating foreign students into the Greek society, and very experienced in teaching about values like equality, diversity and human rights . All the teachers of our school have been teaching all the qualities of the CRC, not only on theory, but in practice as well, albeit unsystematic. This project will help us properly shape and better form what we have been teaching over all these years.
